Welcome to Soma – a community of Christ-Followers being Jesus to an emerging generation of people in Salem, Oregon.
All too often today, the “church” is simply understood as a building or a weekly worship time (ever asked anyone if they “go” to church?). However, we’re convinced that church community is so much more than a weekly event. Rather, the church is actually a group of people sharing a common experience...the presence of Jesus in their lives. With that in mind, we want to be a community of people who emulate the heart and character of God in a way that allows Jesus to transform people’s lives. We are very intentional about centering our lives around the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus as well as creating a space for those who are missing to belong.
Maybe you’ve been following Jesus for a long time, but are looking for a missional community to be a part of? Or maybe you’d consider yourself spiritual and would like to explore Jesus in a community where people will be honest about their shortcomings as they share their experience of Jesus in their lives?
